Eigo Noto Lesson 6-7-2  


Grade: 6
Lesson: 7 (2 of 4)
Target: I get up at 6.
Materials: CD & player; Text; Cut up Ohajiki paper strips

Greeting- 2 minutes
Teacher to Students- Listen & Repeat (some or all)
Hello, Hi, Hey, Howdy, G’day, Good Morning, Hola, Aloha, Bon Jour, Bon Dia, Bon Journo, Ni Hao, Konnichiwa, Anyohaseyo, Sambaino, Kiola, Selamat Pagi (am) (pm-Siang), Shalom, Jambo, Asalamalekum, Zzdrastvet-yah, Namaste.

Singing/Listening- Sesame Street Number Song- 5 minutes
CD- with Sesame Street Numbers song
ALT- play CD, lead singing of numbers 1-12

Janken 4’s- Warm-Up/Review/Conversation Skills Practice- 5 minutes
ALT/HRT: Janken and do the conversation first together, then with a few students to practice/demonstrate.
Students: Each student Janken and Converse with 3 others in groups of 4
L) 5, 15, 25, 35, 45, 55.        
W) 10, 20, 30, 40, 50.

Daily Activities Chant- 5 minutes
get up clap get up clap2 I get up clap3
also (listed vertically for later): study science/eat lunch/clean the room/
play baseball/go home/watch TV/Mama says clap-go to bed!
EigoNoto- pages 44-45, the pictures in circles at the bottom.
ALT- introduce and lead the chant
Students- sing and clap along

Ohajiki Game- 8 minutes
Blackboard- What time do you get up? At 6.
EigoNoto- page 47
Materials- cut ohajiki papers for students to cut/tear into 5 pieces
ALT/HRT- take turns asking and answering the question IN REVERSE ORDER, ie., ALT- At 6. HRT- What time to you get up?
Students- First, cover 5 activities with an ohajiki cover.  Then, take off an ohajiki cover when the activity is called.

SONG/Activity- What Does It Mean?- 8 minutes
What does it mean? X3
When you do this? Do-do-DO?! (-> do the action now.)
ALT: Lead Ss in singing, choose a S to tell what the gesture means. Later, ask for student volunteers to do gestures in front of the class.
ALT/HRT: Take turns acting out: get up/study science/eat lunch/clean the room/play baseball/go home/watch TV/Mama says clap- go to bed!
Students: Sing-a-long, guess the gestures. Later, volunteers come to front of class to do gestures for others to guess.

Let’s Listen- 5 minutes

Students- listen to the CD and write the time onto the clock faces. Check answers with CD a second time.

Activity- Teachers’ Daily Routines- 5 minutes
What time do you OO? At X.
get up/ eat breakfast/ study/ read a book/ go to bed

ALT/HRT- take turns asking each other What time do you OO? and writing the answers in a grid on the blackboard.
Students- Draw lines in the text from the activities to the times.

Wrap-Up - 3 minutes
(Present common mistakes to the whole class. Write the mistaken point on the blackboard, and ask if anybody can see the mistake.) Or-
HRT to Students, in Japanese:
-What did we talk about today? 
-Were there some words you already knew?
-Did you learn any new words?
-What was fun or interesting?
-What was difficult?
-How can we make that easier next time?

Closing- 1  minute
Students: ‘Thank you! Good bye!’
Teachers: ‘You’re welcome! Good bye!’
